Summer Reading Program Nearing Completion

Summer Reading 2009 is coming to its end!
The “Read on the Wild Side” theme has sparked young readers to explore a wide range of wild things. They have collectively read hundreds of books on wild animals, wild weather, wild fantasies and more. They have been visited by a professional storm chaser, a puppeteer and her "wild" puppets, and learned to draw "wild" cartoons. The summer program participants have also made some pretty wild crafts.

There are still a few programs yet to come.

Subscription Fees to Increase

Effective July 1, 2009, non-resident library subscription fees will increase from the current level of $35.00 per year to $39.00 per year. We regret having to make this increase, but in order for us to remain eligible for certain state grants, we must conform to the state's subscription guidelines.

Electronic Database Access Discontinued

Due to rising subscription costs and falling tax revenues, the library has been forced to cancel its access to the electronic databases we have had in the recent past. We will try to find print resources which contain the information needed by our patrons. If you need assistance, please ask one of the librarians.

Library Knitting Club

Due to new library hours, effective Thursday, May 28th, the Knitting Club will now be meeting from 5:45 to 7:00 PM. The club will then meet at that time on every other Thursday. Please contact Janie at the library if you have any questions or concerns - (815) 844-7229.

We hope this will not be inconvenient for the club's members.
