Illinois History

Illinois Harvest is a unique service that provides access to publicly available online materials about or related to Illinois. The service is being developed by the University of Illinois with generous funding support from the State of Illinois. The portal will feature materials held by libraries across Illinois and beyond. These materials include among other things: research works by Illinois scholars, photos of and texts about Abraham Lincoln, copies of Illinois constitutions, World War I and II documents, historical Illinois maps and aerial photographs, documents about Illinois during the Civil War, the Bloomington-Normal Black History Project documents, and historic architectural drawings and renderings about the “built environment” of the University of Illinois.

Internet Public Library and Librarian’s Internet Index

In 2010, the Internet Public Library and Librarian’s Information Index merged to become ipl2: information you can trust. ipl2 is a public service organization and a teaching/learning environment, hosted by Drexel University’s College of Information Science & Technology. Thousands of volunteer library professionals and library and information science students have been involved in designing, building, creating, and maintaining the ipl2 collections.

Pontiac Public Library is a partner with the Livingston County Legal Self-Help Center. Illinois Legal Aid Online offers easy to understand information about your legal rights and responsibilities and self-help resources, including forms. Please be aware that we provide these forms as a public service, and library staff cannot provide legal advice. Forms may be printed at the library and cost 15 cents per sheet.

You can read selected Nolo books online—in their entirety, for free. Current editions include renter’s rights, foreclosure, saving your small business, and a guide to small claims court. Respected law books publisher Nolo is making these books available online for free because they want to make the valuable information they contain as widely available as possible. Look for more books to be added in the future.
